Pet Care Q&A

Helpful details before you request a visit.

What does an in-home pet visit include?

A visit may include feeding, fresh water, dog walks or fenced-yard potty breaks, litter or agreed cage cleanup, waste cleanup, companionship, play, routine medication according to owner instructions, and agreed small household courtesies.

Can you feed my pets according to their normal schedule?

Yes. Please provide written instructions with portions, food location and the usual schedule. We’ll follow the agreed schedule as closely as reasonably possible, though exact-to-the-minute timing is not promised unless specifically arranged.

Do you walk dogs?

Yes, when dog walking is requested and appropriate for the pet. We’ll follow owner instructions about the leash, route, routine, weather considerations and agreed walk needs; there is no one fixed walk length for every dog.

Can my dog just be let into the backyard instead?

Yes. When you request it and a secure fenced yard is available, yard potty or exercise breaks may be included in the care plan.

Do you clean litter boxes?

Yes. Litter scooping and basic cleanup around the litter area can be included during scheduled cat-care visits.

Can you care for small animals?

Basic feeding, water and cage-care needs for some small household pets may be discussed with your request. Care for exotic, dangerous, farm, livestock or animals requiring specialized handling is not automatically available.

Can you give my pet medication?

Routine owner-provided medication, such as pills or ear drops, may be discussed and given according to clear written instructions when the sitter is comfortable with the task. This is not veterinary care; injections and complicated medical procedures are not advertised as standard services.

What happens if my pet seems sick or injured?

Noticeable signs of illness, distress, pain, injury or unusual behavior will be taken seriously. We’ll contact you or your designated emergency contact according to the instructions you provided. We do not diagnose medical conditions.

Will my pet get playtime and attention?

Yes. Companionship, affection, play and normal enrichment can be included based on your pet’s personality, comfort and your instructions.

Do you clean pet accidents?

Reasonable pet-related accidents discovered during a scheduled visit can be cleaned as part of normal care when appropriate supplies are available.

Will you bring in packages or mail?

Small household courtesy tasks, such as bringing in mail, flyers or reasonably accessible packages, can be requested. We cannot accept responsibility for high-value deliveries.

Can you water my plants?

Reasonable indoor plant watering can be requested as part of your visit instructions.

Can you turn lights on or adjust blinds?

Yes. Simple household routines involving lights and blinds can be included when you provide clear instructions.

Do you make sure my home is locked when you leave?

Your care directions should include access and locking procedures. Doors and windows used during a visit will be secured according to those instructions. This is not professional home-security monitoring.

What areas do you currently serve?

Walks Whiskers & Wags currently serves Mint Hill, Matthews, and nearby communities. If you're in Indian Trail, Stallings, or another nearby area, send us a pet-care request and we'll let you know whether service is available in your location.

Does submitting the form guarantee my dates?

No. A request is an inquiry. Availability, scheduling and care arrangements must be discussed and confirmed.

What information should I provide before pet care begins?

Please be ready to share pet names and species, feeding and medication instructions, walking or potty routines, veterinarian information, an emergency contact, behavioral information, home-access instructions, alarm or access information when applicable, preferred communication method and dates needed. Sensitive access details should be exchanged privately after initial contact—not through this public form.
